It was a devastating crash involving an Albuquerque officer and a family in an SUV. Now KOAT has learned Officer Jonathan McDonnell has been involved in a handful of other car wrecks. In 2012, McDonnell hit another officer’s car near Central Avenue and 55th Street. According to reports, McDonnell was responding to a call outside of his area command and driving 50 to 60 miles per hour when he quickly changed lanes without looking. McDonnell hit the other officer’s cruiser so hard, the airbag deployed.
The man accused of beating and nearly killing a 17-year-old Cibola High School student is expected in court today. Justin Hansen’s trial is set to begin in April, but today his attorneys will go before a judge requesting a change of venue. They believe Hansen will not receive a fair trial here in Albuquerque due to the national attention this case has received.
Maine native killed in New Mexico gas station robbery, shooting

New Mexico State Police say they are investigating an armed robbery that turned into a fatal shooting at the Smith's Fuel Center in Edgewood on Sunday evening. According to state police, a man armed with a handgun robbed the attendant at the fuel center. At some point during the robbery the attendant was shot. The attendant was taken to the hospital and later died.

The FBI needs helping finding a man who robbed a northwest Albuquerque credit union Wednesday. Agents say a Hispanic male who is approximately 5-foot-4 to 5-foot 6, walked into Mountain America Credit Union on 9200 Golf Course Road NW around 5:30 p.m. demanding cash.
A man is charged in the death of his mother. Police say Hortensia Jimenez was found with a head wound in the area of Malaga. She was rushed to the hospital where she died last Friday.

According to NMSP, Santa Fe Police responded to a domestic violence call that began in the early morning hours on Saturday. When Santa Fe Police arrived on scene a female victim escaped the residence.
