Albuquerque firefighters were quick to put out a blaze at an abandoned church in northeast Albuquerque. Crews were called to the Trinity United Methodist Church building near Central and Carlisle about 6:40 a.m. Friday. KOB arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from the church doors and windows as crews worked quickly to put the fire out.

New Mexico State Police say they are investigating an armed robbery that turned into a fatal shooting at the Smith's Fuel Center in Edgewood on Sunday evening. According to state police, a man armed with a handgun robbed the attendant at the fuel center. At some point during the robbery the attendant was shot. The attendant was taken to the hospital and later died.

A man is charged in the death of his mother. Police say Hortensia Jimenez was found with a head wound in the area of Malaga. She was rushed to the hospital where she died last Friday.
